| Description | : | Myringotomy incisions usually heal without leaving any visible scars or defects in the fibrous middle layer of the tympanic membrane.
Occasionally, as seen here, a round defect may be left in the fibrous middle layer of the drum after a tube has extruded. The thin dimeric membrane that covers this defect in the thick fibrous middle layer is abnormally transparent. |
