EPIDERMOID CHOLESTEATOMA
INTRODUCTION 6

Description : Clinically, a cholesteatoma is initially a silent disease with few presenting symptoms until extensive invasion of the middle ear or mastoid has occurred.

The finding of an attic polyp, crust, or perforation are all signs that strongly suggest the presence of a cholesteatoma.

The observation of white keratin debris within the middle ear (e.g. through a perforation) is diagnostic.
