OPTICAL ILLUSION
| Description | : | The oblique angle of the tympanic membrane at the medial end of the external auditory canal produces a distorted view of the actual size and shape of the drumhead.
The "hole" on the right of this human temporal bone is the external auditory canal. The "hole" on the left has been drilled at right angle to the plane of the tympanic membrane. The tympanic membrane will be then photographed through these two openings. |
